CD Key doesn't appear
I bought YNAB a few minutes ago, though when going to the app in the Steam library and click on CD Key, it says "Requesting CD Key" and stays like that for at least 17 minutes. Are the keys currently out? How long is the estimated waiting time?

It definitely shouldn't be out of CD Keys.
If you restart Steam do you see the same issue (sorry for the delay in getting back to you - it was New Years Day and I wasn't on the PC).
I restarted Steam and my laptop several times, I see the same message.
May it be an issue that I'm running Steam on Linux? I followed the instructions for a Linux install on the YNAB website, but I obviously get stuck at the point where I have to enter the key. Maybe Steam doesn't want to assign me a key because the software is not compatible with Linux (according to Steam)?
Oh, that'll be it then :)
There's no Linux version on Steam.

If you run the PC version, you can copy your CD key from that (Help->About->Copy Activation key), and then download the trial from our site and follow the linux instructions there, using the key you got from Steam.

That should work for you.
Is there any way to access the key from Linux if I don't have a Windows or Mac installation available? :s
Pay a visit to a friend you trust who's using Steam on Windows. Log into your Steam account on his/her computer and request the key from there.
If you've got WINE installed, can you run Steam through that?
Then download from there, and get the key (or possibly just run YNAB via Steam through WINE as well)?

I'm kinda clutching at straws here, I don't have a linux install handy to test on at the moment.
I guess I'll just try to get my hands on a friends computer.

Would be a nice feature though - since it's really just requesting the key. :x
Thanks for the replies! :)
Unfortunately, that's all in Steam's hands.
If I could get it to just dispense the key, I would :)
Alright, so I got the key from the Windows version, but I can only find the trial for YNAB3 - and the key (obviously) doesn't activate it. Is there a Linux version of YNAB4 (with Adobe Air)? If not, I'll just try to run the stand-alone setup through WINE.

That brings me to my next question: Are there plans to provide a "proper" Linux version? If so, via Steam?

Thanks :)
Hi Appelsinjuice,
There is no longer a stand-alone AIR version of YNAB, as we are using native extensions on Mac and PC to deal with a few features. You'll need to run through WINE -- you can find a good post on our forums explaining exactly how to do that here: http://www.youneedabudget.com/forum/ynab-linux-f97/how-run-ynab-linux-using-wine-t16409.html

We don't have any plans at this stage to do a standalone Linux version. We might do so in the future, but we stopped officially supporting Linux because the issues people had took far more time to resolve than most Mac/PC issues, and our support team just couldn't deal with them.

I'm sorry about that, but the WINE method works well - and there's a bunch of guys on the forum who will help you out if you need it there.
