Agreed. This game is very unique.
Agreed as well. I like OMD, but this game is some much more than OMD, much less linear, significantly more and better story. OMD and Sanctum good games, but can't touch Sang Froid for story, creativity, non-linear night time fights, historical accuraccy.
Since you brought it up, define "this genre" or try to discribe, what you liked secifically about this game. Most people, like me, very loosely, describe it as tower defense.
The Orcs Must Die games have an okay story with good humor that is told through still images and doesnt go much beyond the jokes. The gameplay is faster paced than sang froid and traps are used more excessively. It is basically a third person shooter. You can either build your character as a trapper or someone who does damage by himself or is able to knock enemies back and such. OMD 2 has coop for 2 players.
Sanctum 1-2 are fairly similar to Orcs Must Die but in first person. it is faster than Sang foid but slower than OMD. Its unique feature is, that you are given a set amount of wall segments, which you then use to, not block the enemy, but to make their path as long as possible. The second game is slightly different from the first but feels overall more polished.
Dungeon Defenders would be an option aswell. Storywise its again bare bone but it mixes the gameplay with some RPG mechanics. Different character classes provide you with different skills and are leveled individually, they have their own set of towers each with different looks and uses. You yourself engage in combat aswell if you want to. There is a chance, that every enemy drops different pieces of loot with a variety of stats that you can then put on to improve and specialise you character.
None of those games have such an in depth story told with an equal amount of effort. I also sensed a great overall atmosphere in sang froid, tht is, for the most part, missing in the suggested games aswell. Also worth mentioning is, that neither of those games have the kind of persistent resource managment from beginning to end.
So if any of the above points is the main reason you liked Sang Froid, be aware that the other games might not be exactly what you are looking for. If, on the other hand, you simply like the concept of defending something with traps and weapons, you cant go wrong with either of them.
Sorry what i meant to say is this is my first Tower Defense game ever whether it be like Plants vs Zombies or Orcs Must Die or Sang-Froid.
I really liked this game reasons being the story, music, gameplay, strategy, and how it was a defense type game but you controlled it in 3rd person view.
Going by these posts it seems like their is not many games similar to this one except Orcs Must Die & Sanctum.
Also what would be the more recommended normal Tower Defense games you guys would recommend? Wouldnt mind giving one of them a go.
Each have their own way of play, orcs must die is more about the action, Iron Grip:Warlord is map to map and has no progression to it, Dungeon Defenders is an endless grinding festival, and i havent played sanctum.
Sang Froid feels alot less like Tower Defence and more like enviroment controlled combat, since only afew items are able to be used without player interaction.
Also, the drinks in this game are stupidly OP, so yeah you can get away with just firewalls and drinks every single night.

You'd have to replace the bondage gothic lolitas with plaid-wearing lumberjacks, though.
