firing at enemy
I TAB to an enemy, lock him with C and press 1 to fire all guns. They seem to autofire after that, BUT they fire in very strange directions, not really at the locked enemy. Sometimes they fire at the same spot (a good distance above the other ship for example), sometimes all around the place. How can I get them to actually hit anything?

I understand what you're saying, but that was clearly not the case. Actually, if anything it seemed to be compensating in the wrong direction. It was quite easy to see as the other ship was far away and didn't move much on the screen (it was flying towards me). That's for the part where it was shooting at one point. The other part, when it started to shoot in circles all over the sky seemed even more wrong when the other ship sat there as a static point. I thought it was something I missed - like accuracy of the guns being dependent on sensors, or something like this, but if it was really trying to hit then I suspect something's wrong. Couldn't keep testing it though as I got blown to pieces.

I have that problem too. The guns can fire at a total other direction than the locked ship Also, as another user one noted, I can't destroy ships no matter how much I fire (manually).

I too seem to be suffering from this problem. I can cover my ship with guns pointing in all directions, yet even if I'm less then 1km from the enemy, they either refuse to fire or fire in some abitrary direction. Is this a bug with the targeting or am I just utterly worthless at this game?

I wouldnt call it a bug, just need some tweaking. I have persoanl seen a target on my left and the guns fire to the right. Or the target is in front of me and the gun fire well anywhere else.

What about the target right in front of you at point blank range and your guns refusing to fire?
Draco Dec 9, 2013 @ 5:53am
Okay, well that is a bug.... Just to make sure you have the target selected and your pressing 1 key to fire right? Also do you have weapons in groups or did you leave them as default?

Yes, I had the target selected and locked, and I had ordered my weapons to fire. They resumed fireing again after a while, when the target was no longer at a range where they could score a hit. All weapons were in the default group.

Well I heard they are going to redo the combat system either for the next patch or the one after that.

Thanks for your question. They are set with inaccurate speeds of projectile, which end up going crazy directions when fired. We are going to be fixing this particular problem hopefully before the next patch.

Nice hearing the targeting is getting fixed. I gladly admit I'm not the best spaceship captain, but in ~15 hours of KV I've manged to destroy two enemy ships. Both by unintended ramming. While my guns were tracking them. And pointing right at them. And refusing to fire.

From a personal standpoint, I know I was able to deselect a ship (Shift+C), retarget it (C) and then press 1, and my guns would go back to firing at the enemy. This might help you as well :)
