Sacred 2 Gold
Hafted vs. Pole arms?
I'm playing a Shadow Warrior right now and really enjoying it. A mix of the two melee aspects. So far I've been using pole arms because I've found some good ones and I also like the bonus of hitting an extra target that they seem to have.

But now I need to select a new skill, and I'm thinking I need to settle on a weapon skill. A build that is pretty close to what I'm doing uses the Hafted Weapons skill, but I'm wondering if it matters. Do hafted weapons do more damage than pole arms, or vice versa, or is it just a matter of what you find? Is there any reason to choose one type over the other, besides preference?

Thanks!

What skills do you already have?
Death Warrior Focus, Malevolent Champion Focus, Concentration, and Tactics Lore
Drop 5 points into tactics lore and pick up dual wield. No need to specialize with a weapon set until later in the game.
I don't know if I want to dual wield. I like being able to one-hit everything with a two-handed weapon, and I doubt dual wielding is that strong. Plus, I've read that dual wielding and the weapon skills (e.g. Sword Weapons) don't stack, so why would I pick one later in the game?
I'm playing a dual wield Seraphim now, and she's been stupid OP since I unlocked Dual Wield. I'd go with something like Armor Lore or Enhanced Perception before specializing. Having better survivability and faster cooldowns is always nice. With EP, you get better loot and most of the relics provide a small boost to it.
I know this topic is a little old, but if you're still wondering, john, it really is a matter of preference, in addition to how you mold your character. I've played this game for years, on a variety of platforms. If you know what you're doing and have a good blacksmith character, no character, skill, or weapon can really outshine the rest. I smithed a little level 8 dagger for my new characters that can one hit kill on mobss til level 75. If you want your 2 h weapon that one hit kills, you can certainly do that with hafted. What you may want to do, in that regard, is look for jewelry with increased critical hit/deathblow. Where the polearms shine is mounted characters, esp horses. And your right, dual wield and weapon skills do not stack. There's only one situation I can think of where you'd take a weapon skill plus dw. For instance, I have a character that I use 2h swords with, but I sank 1 point in dw so I could use dual, buff-loaded Officer's Sabers in conjunction with my buff suit.
Dual wield is stupidly OP, i got 2 swords with life leech and i just decimate everything. Except the succubi boss, that thing just spanks me.
