Does this game actualy work ?

Hi all.

I'm thinking about getting this game with the humble bundle, but considering it's history i'm still hesitating. Does the game work well on later system/specs ? I read that gold edition fix a lot of bugs for the game but is it actualy true ?

Basicaly : will i be able to play this game if i buy it ?

Can't even get the game to start on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

Works fine Win7x64, it does need some tweaking to get it to stop crashing though.

I was unable to get it to work, despite all the "tweaks" I have found so far. I can say for certain, though, that physx didn't install, and I had to do it manually. But it still crashes before it even loads for me.

Thx for all your awnsers guys. Looks like the game is still pretty messed up, too bad because i'm dying for a good old hack and slash and sacred 2 was quite promising. Guess i'll skip my turn then.

I have logged several hours into the game and no crashes or problems so far (well the texts are super small but I found a fix for that). I'm running Windows Vista 64bit. I've read that people have problems with the game on Windows 7, but it can be fixed by changing compatibility mode.

I had issues at first running it using Windows 8 but was fixed just running in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode and as an Administrator. To do this just find sacred2.exe located at Steam\steamapps\common\Sacred 2 Gold\system, right click and go to Properties and under the Compatibility tab it will have the options you need to make it work.

Compatibility mode for XP Service pack 2 and Checking off the 'Run as Admin' box helps. Disabling Desktop Composition may help with performance as well.

Adding these commands to the launch options also helps: -nocpubinding -skipopenal

I opted for Steam's beta updates in the steam client and today's patch included Sacred 2 Gold. The game now works for me without tweaking. So, that's awesome. For everyone that had similar troubles with it not starting, try again now. I had uninstalled it and reinstalled it after the beta update so I don't know if it'd work for those that already had it downloaded, but give it a shot!
