Sacred 2 Gold

Sacred 2 Gold

Game performance sucks...
Is there anything I can do to make the game run smoother? Why does this game run like crap on my machine when most other games run smooth.

My laptop
---------------------
Intel i5 -3210M
8GB MEMORY
INTEL HD 4000 for graphics - can handle Skyrim. Not like other INTEL HDs.

do you run it with Physx enabled by any chance?

No.
Honestly I think it is just an incompatibility with the Intel HD graphics because my laptop runs this smoothly and barely generates any heat. I have a Nvidia 540m GPU that I force run to avoid using the Intel HD. When I did use it before learning how to only use the GPU my laptop ran some games like crap. I am also running an i7 quadcore, but I am not sure if the difference would impact this game enough to make a big difference.
I discovered why this game runs like garbage on my machine. This game and anti aliasing do not mix very well... After turning off anti aliasing, the game is 100 times smoother.

And shadows! Shadows simply destroy game performance on some games. Glad you got it running smooth.

Some games require a discrete graphics card. Meaning, your integrated graphics solution is not going to cut it. Like, you don't have an actual graphics card, thing doesn't even require a real fan to keep cool. If you want to keep playing PC games, then invest in an actual graphics card. Otherwise it's like running around with your shoe laces untied and complaining you keep tripping.
I agree with the latter opinion.
If you have performance issues with this game, it's because of your graphics card IntelHD.
This game should not be the only one with whom you have performance problems.
The IntelHD graphics cards are not RECOMMENDED to play 3D games. They are used for office.
If you want to play on a laptop, buy one with a dedicated graphics card (Radeon or Nvidia) with 2GB of GDDR3 or GDDR5 memory.

INTEL HD 4000 is made for than office related work. It is the first of it's kind.
It's not that great. http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-HD-Graphics-4000.69168.0.html
Notice how in the column list on the left it's still towards the bottom of the Class 3 list. If you are on a laptop, you won't be able to change it of course but it is capable of some games like Skyrim on low-medium.
This game should have lower requirements, I'm glad it's working for you now.
