im having the same issue.Whenever i start the game through steam it looks like it starts but then closes right after wthout showing anything. if anyone knows how to fix it please help

This seems to work:
navigate to <steam install folder>\steamapps\common\Sacred 2 Gold\system and run sacred2.exe

there is no sacred2.exe int he system file

That is odd. Mine definately has one and its about 3.21MB in size. Have you tried having steam check the local game cache?

Don't know if this will help, but here is a RAR'ed version of the one in my system folder. Perhaps extract the exe there and give it a try..
