That aside, though I have not used it personally, Tunngle is the more popular option for S2 multiplayer. They some what have a matchmaking for games and that would let you join random games, or have random people join your game. As I said though, I have not used Tunngle, so I do not know much about it. http://www.tunngle.net/
I also believe Hamachi can be used, though you would need to know the people, and give them your Hamachi Network info for them to join you. An Unmanaged account is all that is needed. https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/download.aspx
YouTube and Google are where you can find walkthroughs on how to set them up. And I would personally advise researching both to find out what you really want to do.
