Game start up error!
This is the error that I get when I try to start the game:

driver: [nvldumd.dll]
graphicscard: [NVDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti]
device: [\\.\DISPLAY1]
cDX9Base::_initDX() CreateDevice failed!
cDX9Advance::_initAdvance() initDX failed!
SacredApp::setup() setupWindow failed!
App::Setup() failed!

I tried strarting it directly after installing from steam, after trying compatability mode with windows 7, as an admin, after downloading community patch, and after changing the start up shortcut with "-skipopenal -nocpubinding".

I don't know what else to do. Someone mention a PhysX file somewhere but I can't find that. How do I get this game to run?

cDX9Base::_initDX() CreateDevice failed!
Can you run DXDiag to test wether DirectX is installed properly?

This is what came up:

the other tabs say "No problems found" under the "Notes" section.

Nem, Steam vers of Sacred 2 Gold + Sacred 2 CM Patch 0160 + Fonts + Trimmed Elite Textures = Profit (without any crashes)

i had the same problem! You have to go into the Sacred 2 Folder in Steam and download all things manually in this. Then you run Sacred2.exe in Win Xp Mode and as admin

I've tried pretty much everything I can think of and has been suggested on here and darkmatter and nothing works so I'm giving up...

Sorry to hear that.
I am always faszinated and frustrated in equal terms, that one game can run smoothly out of the box on one system, but refuses to work on antoher system. :|

Running Steam as admin helps me. Ah, the logic of an Undead Dev but there you go :)
If all else fails try something other than XP Compatiility. I use Win 7 compatabilty, works well for me.

Running in Compatibility Mode (Windows XP Service Pack 3) worked for me.
For those who don't know:
From your Steam Library, right-click on Sacred 2 Gold.
Choose 'Properties,' then the 'Local Files' tab, and choose 'Browse Local Files...'
That'll take you to the folder on your computer where Steam keeps the game files. The file we're looking for is in the "system" subfolder - "sacred2.exe"
Right clickl on "sacred2.exe," and choose 'Properties,' then the 'Compatibility' tab.
Check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)" in the dropdown menu below it.

Hopefully this helps!
