but i wait for ages and they dont move, does flying over them with the jetpack work

yeah but i couldnt do anything after that, now i am stuck on the outdoors part of death row. and how do i avoid going to death row, i beat level 2 by jetpacking so the gates didnt trap me

Yes, but that's supposed to be for multiplayer only, and all it will do is take you to the start of death row anyway.

you have to noclip through a window just above, and to the left of, the yellow key door to gain access to the secret switch

Is just playing through Death Row too much of a task or what? it's one of the best levels

how would I do that

It's easiest if you have a jetpack, just jetpack over where the walls come up around you and hit the nuke at the end, I find it's easiest to hit it an an angle, if you stand to the left of it and try to activate it at the right is what I find easiest. Anyway, when the animation starts and after the alien starts talking (he'll talk regardless of if you get trapped in the cell or not) hit F1 and wait for the sound of the nuke to end and the alien's voice to end, then hit escape. You'll go past Death Row and spawn into Toxic Dump with all your stuff.
