KNOWN FIXES FOR BUGS - Check here before posting issues
First of all: Yes the game is compatible with a keyboard.

Error: "P13 crash"

Start with verifying the game cache, this solved the issue for some people.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This error occurs when your windows profile got any strange character in it Russian, Greek etc.

Fix: Create a new windows account with normal letters, to make it easy name it "Bob" & use this for Brothers.

Faster fix: (If you don't do this correctly you might face issues with other applications, do not attempt this if you're completely unaware of what you are doing.)
http://www.ghacks.net/2011/03/28/how-to-change-a-windows-account-name-and-user-profile-folder-name/
(Same here, name it "Bob")

Error: Failed to locate ExE: C:/Program Files (x86)/steam/steamapps/common/Brothers-A Tale of Two Sons/Binaries/Win32/Brothers.exe (Or where your game is installed)

Verify game files.

-If it still does not work, turn off your antivirus.

(This issue started today 2013-09-06 for Avast users, seems that it's putting the .exe file in quarantine, this is an issue caused by Avast & not the game itself)

Error: Failed to create d3d device

There is two different solutions for this:

Some people have reported that it works after changing resolution in the launcher window.

If it's still not resolved:

Right click on Brothers: A tale of two sons in your games list, select 'properties', click on 'set launch properties', add -windowed (Make sure to exactly add "-windowed")

Issue: Left stick on controller reverted (When a player attempts to move the bigger brother with the left stick he moves the other way)

Fix:

Go to your game folder then ../Engine/Config and open BaseInput.ini in notepad.
Now look for this line:

Bindings=(Name="XboxTypeS_LeftY",Command="Axis aBaseY Speed=1.0 DeadZone=0.3")

And insert a "-" (minus sign) in front of the Speed value so that the line becomes:

Bindings=(Name="XboxTypeS_LeftY",Command="Axis aBaseY Speed=-1.0 DeadZone=0.3")

Stuck in a chapter (Extremely rare)
I've seen two bugs where people have gotten stuck in a chapter due to bugs, this has been resolved by restarting the specific chapter.

Here's one that we have on video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-DJGQ3t3YE

The second one that I saw in a stream was when you need to grab a specific key the character cannot grab it.

Game not saving at checkpoints
This issue seems to occur if a user have changed the location of the folder "documents".

This is how it normally looks: C:\Users\**computer name**\Documents\My Games\Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons
If you have moved your "documents" you need to manually create the folder "Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons" in \Documents\My Games

This information have been gathered from the forum, thanks to all you helpful people!
This list will also hopefully help the developers so they know what bugs to fix

I got my PS2 controller to work with the version of x360ce that is here:
{LINK REMOVED}

I had already tried with current version of x360ce without getting it to work, but this version worked flawlessly!
When I get to the cave and little brother has to go through the gate to turn the lever, little brother turns the lever but the gate doesn't go up. Anyone else had this problem or know how I can fix it?

Do you spin it? You're supposed to spin the gamepad stick so the brother rotates the lever. If it still does not work a chapter restart is probably necessary :/

I'm having an issue with keyboard controls in one area. I'm stuck in the ice level where you have to saw the tree. I can only saw one way when I hold left for both, but on the way back i have to switch char places and go left again. On the 2nd tree to make the bridge older brother gets stuck on one side and cant hold the handle he just keeps running so I'm stuck since I cant switch every saw movement coz it won't work the other way :(

I just encountered an entirely different issue. Whenever I try to use the Keyboard the game just freezeses. Doesn't matter whether I got a controller hooked up or not the game stops working and I need to close it via taskmanager. This happens with any sort of keyboard input.

FIXED: The issue fixed itself after starting up my computer again.

WARNING: SPOILERS:
I have two bug reports. I'll post them separately.

#1 in the epilogue, little brother doesn't learn how to swim after the encounter with his mom. (I've watched a walkthrough online, so I know what it's supposed to look like.)

If I walk into the water he shakes his head. If I then attempt to interact with the water he behaves as with when there's nothing there to interact with.

I have done a chapter reset twice and restarted the game once.

I'm sorry, I'm not very experienced with video capture techniques or I would make a youtube video for you.

Specs:
Game Version: PC (Steam) - Downloaded today (9/9/2013)
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit OS)
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU Q 740 @ 1.73 GHz 1.73 GHz
Memory: 4.00 GB
Gaming with: keyboard

Let me know if I might be able to supply more (relevant) info.

WARNING SPOILERS:
2nd bug report:

Summary:
Part 1: I fell off a ledge where the game doesn't intend to let you die
Part 2: The last save was a full cut-seen earlier since you weren't supposed to die where I did.

(When approaching the tree at the end). I finished walking around the wrap-around vine/root/branch thing. When I came to the entrance, I fell right off the ledge inside the tree (though it's supposed to stick you to the inner tree branch to balance/walk across. My death sent me back to the last save, which was when I'm just starting to walk out of the spider den.

Request:
Make an auto-save point at the bottom of the tree, and/or
Fix the clipping/hit-detection/whatever at the entrance to the tree.

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit OS)
For any further computer specs, see previous post.

Feel free to ask me any follow-up questions.

Note: I've only experienced the glitch once. I didn't replay the Chapter to test it further. The second time I went through the area I made sure not to give it a chance to kill me.

Pickettpw your first bug may not be a bug ..

hold down the left trigger

I encountered a bug early on when the troll is helping you to progress, I fell off a ledge and when I respawned and did it again, the troll event didn't trigger to let me progress. At the part where there is 3 waterfalls and the toll climbs down and helps you up the other side. It was fixed by going to main menu and continuing, no need to restart chapter.

Trying to use a Microsoft for Windows 360 gamepad, and even though it works on many other games, Brothers - a tale of two sons won't recognise the gamepad at all.

try removing all other usb devices from the computer. If it still does not work, check around on the forum. There's people that have been assisting with controller issues.
Kampuff Sep 11, 2013 @ 7:46am
I've had a quick search around and nothing really seems to work. I don't have any other USB devices connected, I have tried Xpadder and x360ce to emulate a 360 pad but neither work. It's like the switch to controller option on my version is turned off.
Kampuff Sep 11, 2013 @ 8:21am
I now have successful got the menu's to work by disabling the steam overlay. Still can't control the game though.

For my controller (the Saitek P2600, left stick Y was inverted and right stick had X and Y swapped and one of the axes was also inverted) I had to edit the file:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons\P13\Config\DefaultInput.ini

In the Console Bindings section I had to add:

.Bindings=(Name="XboxTypeS_LeftY",Command="Axis aBaseY Speed=-1.0")
.Bindings=(Name="XboxTypeS_RightY",Command="Axis aTurn Speed=1.0")
.Bindings=(Name="XboxTypeS_RightX",Command="Axis aLookUp Speed=0.8")
