Basically it was about the Rising Sun flag which is synonymous to the Nazi flag in terms of symbology and what it stood for. It's not a vocal issue in America, but in other parts of the world some nations take extreme offense. In this age of technology where video games are online and international, I wanted to advise the developers of the sensitivity of this issue which is still going on today. I only realized this while comparing it to RO:HS; the lack of the Nazi flag for the Germans. The Hinomaru symbol better represents the Japanese community opposed to the Rising Sun symbol, which was strictly created for the imperial military expansion and planned atrocities. It's like walking around New York City with a t-shirt glorifying 9/11, or walking around Europe with a Nazi symbol. it's just bad publicity for all sides. Italy just apologized for representing Japan with it, MUSE the artist apologized and had to alter the video for glorifying that flag. It's just a sensitive issue and I wanted TW and RS team to steer clear from that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ if the game hits off and gets big. According the devs they have already discussed this and everything was taken into consideration.

Yeah...... the Swastika was created before the Nazis started to use it..... and the mustache Hitler is famous for was grown by many people before he started growing it... didn't stop either of them from screwing those things up for everybody else after what they did.

I mean... how many people have you come across in your life time with a real Hitler Stash?

If people take serious offense to such things, then is it really worth having them in a video game, especially when you plan to market that game to those people??

Using the Hinomaru symbol would work just fine for the game & still have the same effect for representing the Japanese, much like the Iron Cross for the Germans.

January of 1870 it was officially designated as the Imperial war flag when they started their frontier in Asia. The Hinomaru is the true Japanese flag predating the Rising Sun. Imperial Japan was long at war before WW2 commiting their own genocide under their Emporors regime; Both Sino-Japanese, Russo-Japanese up until WW2 when their empire finally fell.

Even during the course of all these wars, the official Japanese flag was always the Hinomaru. The use of the Rising Sun flag in their current navy is also under much scrutiny, the flag itself represents imperial expansionism, but under Article 9 of their constitution it strictly prohibits all notion of foreign affairs through military. As I said, this is a contraversial and sensitive debate in Asia itself, it just doesn't look good for a video game. People are going to get offended by it and that's just how it is, because despite the technicalities and the video aspect, real people and real countries were destroyed under this flag; just like the Nazi flag.

I feel some Korean-Japanese discord fueling this thread and that's it. The Nazi flag not being in RO...well you can't sell games with that image in Germany - easier to make a neutral flag than two different editions.

its not just koreans upset with japanese for what occurred during wwii, just ask the chinese and in fact many peoples of the pacific that they occupied.

I don't have any issues with Japanese people; however, in the real world there are Koreans, Chinese, Filipinos and etc...that will harshly judge TW and RS team solely based on trivial ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ which can bring bad light to an otherwise amazing company. There is a reason why Germany made it illegal, it's not only rude to the victims but the Nazi flag is also not something they wish to glorify today. RS doesn't lack racism as it is, we don't need more of it.
