DX12 is the feature API moving forward, so that's probably why Futuremark decided to go with it for this new benchmark. Vulkan reminds me of Mantle. It probably will be short-lived.

Vulkan is essentially the replacement for OpenGL. Not exactly, but the more modernized counterpart. Anyone interested in any level of cross platform games would be better suited toward support of Vulkan over DX12.

Vulkan is a thing, but Vulkan became usable for development a lot later than DX12. We have plans. Stand by :)

One thing is for sure, since Google adopted Vulkan for Android, it will be a serious thing. On PC it will take longer due to all the investment done to DirectX engines and the fact that the API and the drivers are still somewhat shaky (if getting a lot better). Give it 6-12 months... DX12 took over 12 months to start being widely used and Vulkan final spec has been out for just a few months...

How much will the Vulkan API test cost for current owners when it finally does come out? I certainly don't want to pay for the DX12 test (Seriously, single OS only test and you've the gall to ask current owners to pay more, but new buyers just get it). You charge more for current owners to get that test than MSFT did for the whole OS!
Doesn't matter, I won't buy the DX12.
I just want to know when and how much I can expect for a test that actually tests the future of products not kisses MSFT.

Yeah, and is this also going to be another paid addon?

I haven't got the faintest idea yet. It is still way off in the future.

API Overhead Test will get a free update with Vulkan support soon.

You can run the DX12 test completely free. Just install the free version DLC ("Time Spy Benchmark")

Also 3DMark retail price went up from 24.99 to 29.99 with the addition of time spy upgrade into the package. Steam just wont show this change until the current sale is over.

This difference is by the way the exact cost it currently takes to add time spy upgrade for the previous owners.
