Exactly my thoughts! Anyone know if it is? I don't want to get caught out again buying a module for the standalone because it was cheap only for the sale to transfer over and have to use two installs.

I think we all know, but a heads up from the top of the ED shop page just in case:

"Notice: Keys purchased here can not be used to activate DCS products on Steam!"

Damn, I have 3 of those items on my wish list.....argh! Why can't they bind them together like the port over to Steam. So frustrating. I just read the same email and was going to post. Thanks for the heads up.

And can the steam keys be used to activate the standalone version?

Yes.

I have Combined Arms and I would say wait on it. It's very much just a place holder title and there's not been much progress in getting it up to par with the rest of the series in terms of playable platforms, realism and overall support.

That being said though, I would buy it on sale at 70% or more off. That's a great price versus what I paid thinking it would be better supported than it has been.

Just my opinion.

Going to get myself the F-86, so pumped!

Would be nice if steam matched thier prices! :) Really though, DLC should not be priced so high to begin with.. What they should do, is offer a higher price for DCS world and then offer a monthly membership for people who want to support game development and then those members would get DLC included with the membership as it is published.

Its really not "DLC" though. You are buying a full sim for each plane or helicopter.

Is this sale going to come onto steam?

THIS Sale will not come to Steam.
But ANOTHER Sale certainly will.
Steam had even better sales up to 85% off before.
ED and Steam Sales are independent of each other, even if they may fall into the same time period, like a Holiday or Seasonal or a Flash Sale.

I believe ED, or any developer, is able to "force" a sale on Steam now, but I'm sure the terms are such that it's not very profitable, and so ED rather have their own sales.

None of this really matters though. Just enjoy the fact that you're able to get these top notch simulation products at a great discount from time to time.
I don't recall Microsoft ever having a sale on FSX, it's like always full priced, and I've purchased the earlier versions of its Flight Simulator at $100 each before.

You'd have to spend about $400 to get all DCS Modules/DLCs.
But it's a steal at the Sales prices like 75% off.

DCS is FREE.

A terrible idea. It may work for games like WoW or War Thunder, but not a realistic niche flight simulator product like DCS. Here, you ought to purchase these aircraft or you're just not up to the task and lack the dedication to flying. You can try it for FREE (try is an understatement, as it's unlimited multiplayer with a very good aircraft that Su-25T is), and know what to expect so you can make the decision to buy or not to buy Modules/DLCs.

All that was on sale and I didn't have, the Sabre, the Dora and the M-8. And I still have a 60% cupon I haven't used from when I bought my TrackIR
