Creature not Spawning Bug - Possible Workaround

9 hours into the game and I still havent run into the creature. Is this typical or am I experiencing a bug? I'd hate to start over at this point.

How long has passed in game? The creature starts showing up on the third day.

Huh, guess you may have run into a bug. If you start a new game in a new slot and immediately sleep until two nights have past, then take a right at the fork just past the building the with cartography table you will probably run into the creature fairly quickly in the woods in that area. It's random so no guarantees - if you get as far as another building you are past the area that the creature spawns. The creature also spawns fairly often on the North shore opposite that area.

I had plenty of Creature encounters on my first playthrough, but on my second, I got through with only about 3-4 actual face-to-face encounters. Heard him plenty of times, but most of the time I just kept going and they faded away.

I did what DarkStar recommended and started a new game where he did spawn during the 3rd day. Then when I went back into my main game he started spawning. Up until that point I never heard him nor got a heartbeat.

Cool, sounds like we might have a workaround :)
Do you think you could edit the title of this thread to something like "Creature not Spawning Bug - Possible Workaround" to make it easy for anyone else suffering the bug to find this?

Depending how far you are into the game, nine hours is quite long, but not impossible, I'd say.

I played the game for 25 hours and I can say that the first half was spent without really fearing the beast, which didnt really spawn. Those were pleasant hours. The closer you get to making the cure, the more it spawns I think.

blergh. if someone could tell me how to recreate that bug so i could get *rid* of the creature, that'd be great. >,< between the creature and my character controls feeling like the old arcade Lunar Lander, im having a hard time appreciating all the good this game *does* have to offer.

The creauture spawns at certain "hotspots" such as by important plants or areas, and the rate that is spawns goes higher the longer you play it. I actually didn't see the monster till day 8, and when I saw it, it was near one of the plants needed for Agent Y. Other people have encountered the monster earlier because they have gone in or near the area where that plant was, so it spawns.
