Stone Urns Scare Away the Creature?
I'm not sure if this is intentional or not, but whenever I was being chased by the creature and I lit one of the stone urns around the island, the creature would immediatley run away regardless of how close he was to me. So far this has worked twice and I don't kow if it was just a coincidence both times or a glitch. Can anyone verify this?

Buildings are also safe places If your close to hut you may make it to safety if you run there.... Only take into consideration the loudness of the heart beat s telling you how close she is! If you have a torch face her she will slow right down, Still coming for you but almost creeping. She is quite wide and cannot go between narrow tree easily. Use any and all advantages you can

Good luck!

I've been wondering about this. I've just started using the urns to save my game - because they're often out in the middle of nowhere, I wondered whether I'd ever light the urn and then immediately hear The Heartbeat.

From what you say, I'd suspect it's an intentional design similar to the way Milo runs away when you reach a camp (assuming he doesn't get the circling glitch). If your last saved game was one with Milo in your face, it could be the end of your game.

Could be wrong tho. Maybe it is just coincidence. :)

The Urns often have 2 Together so that by standing carefully you can locate both and map Central parts of the island or also then activate a new head or building. If you put a log into one it will burn for quite a while whereas sticks only a brief while. And yes they save your game up to the time you put the log in. So if you get killed or quit you still have the log or sticks in hand and can put them into the next urn!
Whereas if your going for the urn achievement try to light each and every one and all camps fires you come across!

There is a tutorial in the game's environment file that is supposed to trigger when approaching an urn (but is broken and doesn't trigger):

Flaming Urns provide a zone of protection from aggressors.

Ok so it is intentional. I just thought it was weird because I couldn't find anything about it even on the wiki. So if anyone is having trouble with the creature this looks like the easiest way to get rid of it.

If you happen to be near one of course! :D

And, if you are near one, remaining calm enough to find some sticks while keeping the urn in sight (or getting your bearings to where it is) and light it, rather than blindly rushing around and hurtling over a precipice. Really, the best way to deal with Milo is not to panic, but man, it's hard.

Thanks for the info on this - really useful to know. Looks like my new-found urn lighting skills may have been the reason for Milo's non-appearance for the last 10-12 days. :O)

One notable exeption/oversight seems to be the three building filled with red mushrooms, Milo came inside and killed me in the far left tent/hut..
