Instead of wasting time on cash grabs, let's have Bethesda pump out The Elder Scrolls VI: Elsweyr!
i feel like skyrim was the same way - sure Oblivion was popular, more so than Morrowind. That being said a bunch of kids picked up Skyrim without playing Oblivion, more hype means more attention unfortunately.
What about my name and avatar surprised you? I have modded games, and it just ends up being alot of heavy loading and making sure that each mod is loaded in the right order and no conflicts amongst mods occur. It's a very annoying process. Plus, if you screw up, you have to pretty much re-download and do a clean install. Mods are great, I just prefer little-to-no overhead of installing and maintaining.
That's only if you're manually installing, or if you're using some kind of hackjob garbage mod manager. You shouldn't be doing either of those things.
Admittedly, you're sort of limited to manual installation with a lot of games, but still. NMM has support for a lot of games anyway, so it's rarely an issue.
