The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

New to modding - What am I doing wrong?
Someone please explain my retardation.

I was told by a friend that I needed *Unofficial Oblivion Patch* before I even think about adding any other mods as well as something called *Oblivion Mod Manager.* I have gotten all the way to the part of actually adding the patch to the Mod Manager, but it does not add everything. Really at a loss here. This is what it looks like: https://puu.sh/tl5pj/7149547f76.png

As you can see, it ONLY adds the ESP files, and not everything else. I have tried to use the *Add Folder* command, but to no avail it does not add them either. Would anyone be able to explain my possible noob(literally) issue?

Side Note: Would using WinRar be a deciding factor as to this issue? I use the *Add Archive* option for the zip file and it just adds the ESP files as stated above :\..

You downloaded a zipped Unofficial Oblivion Patch, right? If so, just install it manually.. It should come with instructions.

It does not have an executable :\

I redownloaded the patch in case I installed an incorrect one and to confirm, yes, it does not have a .exe :^(

Use Wrye Bash, its easier imho

Ah, so I have to use something else to install this? Should I use Wrye Bash for all mods?

Use Wrye Bash for all mods. It is the best mod manager for Oblivion.

Ok I appreciate it haha

Don't use WinRar for uncompressing archives, it's a crappy program. You will get errors with some mod files if you use it. Use 7zip instead, it's much better:

Don't worry, it's free.

I didn't imply that it comes with an executable file.. You should be able to install this manually.. By extracting the contents of the zip out into a folder and then putting those files into the Data folder where your game is installed.. But like I said, once you extract the files from the zip file.. You should be able to find instructions on how to install the unofficial oblivion patch.. If not, then check on the website where you downloaded.. There must be instructions.

I noticed that after I re-read it since I was in a match and skimmed it. Remember my flavor text at the beginning of all of this about explain my retardation? Lol.

Yeah. Someone on the nexusmod forums recommended I use Wrye Bash since (apparently) that's the superior program. So I am trying learn how to use it....OBMM and WBash are difficult to use ._. ...

can't you add it in manually? I never use mod managers, if the folder says Data then you replace Data if it's just blahblah.esp you put it inside data, if it's texture you replace texture etc, I'm pretty sure you can add in those patches via manually

find ur steam folder > steamapps > common > game name folder (example Skyrim)

Yeah I would much prefer to do it manually, but I read somewhere that on down the line when I want to add more mods I will run into a problem(?) with like order of the mods or something....i'm not too certain so I figured i'd use a manager :S

Just create an account on nexus and download nexus mod manager. Than you can just download the mod through the software and install it. Actually you should because not only it easier, but it's much easier to uninstall and manage every mod you have.

I don't have many mod isntalled, but it do the job.

I have installed

Blockead (required for character overhaul 2)
OBSE
Improved tree and flora 2
Unoficcial patch
Unofficial shivering island patch
Natural environement
OBGE

See, I WOULD use NMM, but people have been saying that a lot of mods were made before NMM and they were never updated to be NMM friendly. So I chose not to use that one. I am trying to learn Wrye Bash...pretty difficult (cause i'm p. dumb). I suppose this is what I have to put up with just to sucessfully mod my game xD
