morrowind goty moded larrius varro won't give ''bad people'' mission SOLVED

He only gives me the first mission but when i go back and talk to him he won't give the ''work'' option for bad people !!! i've tried all the talking option but he won't give me the work !!! The only way he would show '' work '' option is when i would kill all the five members but then he would tell me that he can not give me the work because someone killed them and it's under investigation by the guards !!! please help what do i do !? SOLVED !!!

Try speaking to someone in the South Wall Cornerclub in Balmora (=Thieves Guilds) and talk to them about "bad people". This should update your quest state to the point that Varro will acknowledge your actions.

Also, did you per chance join the Imperial Legion after accepting this quest but before finishing it? Being affiliated with the Legion afaik means that Varro won't talk to you about the topic.

Thanks for the fast reply :) yes , i did all that but in their conversation there were no metions of the ''bad people'' ! And i didn't join the legion . But the good news is my problem is solved :) to solve it i had to speak to the members of the mages guild in balmora ! long story short i had to speak to some key people and update my journal before i spoke with larrius and then go to the thieves guilds and get the names of the bad people :) So , thanks again and i don't want to say too much cause that might spoil the fun for others ! but if anyone reads this and need the details just let me know ;)

Yeah ! You have to talk to NPCs around Balmora about Rumors, Advice, and Secrets until one tells you the "Secret" that Varro wants to talk to YOU about some mysterious matter.
Before that, one will tell you a "Rumor" about Varro having problems getting to to the corrupt Magistrate and needing to get "through the system". The first time you get those responses, you will get a notice of an automatic update in your Journal.

OK but just how many people do you have to speak to about the corruption issue before Varro decides to actually tell you the "little story," as opposed to warning about a Nord Bandit near Hla Oad, like he is now?

Yeah, NVM, Turns out you need to speak to a BUNCH of people in Balmora first, one after another. Eventually you get 3 journal entries and Varro decides he wants to talk about "work."

In response to Fireeye's post, I don't think being in the Legion will affect this quest; I'm in it and I've been able to talk to him about the issue.

I got it to work after following EPIC YAY's post:

• In my case, I killed the bandit before getting the Journal entry (was attacked by him).
  
• Asked about "latest rumors" in Balmora and got the first Journal entry.
  
• Spoke to Larrius about the bandit; he gave me a reward
  
• Clicked on every topic; nothing about "bad people" or "work" or "little story"
  
• Went back to Balmora, South Wall and spoke to two people about "latest rumors" & got the 2nd journal entry
  
• Spoke to someone else in South Wall about "little secret" and got 3rd journal entry
  
• Came back, "work" topic now available

Yeah it's totally unrelated to being in the Legion, just like how the Ring of Khajiit quest doesn't require you to actually join the Morag Tong. Glad I could help. :)

I had same issue. I found that talking to more people about it helped. you have to be level 3, and you have to have people like you enough to tell you. I got 2 mentions of it that did not work, third did. I was about to go nuclear and go ` command journal "town_balmora" 3

If anyone wants more detailed information, I only had the entry "I hear that the Balmora magistrate, Nolus Atrius, is on the take. ..." from the initial "latest rumors".

1. I went to the South Wall Cornerclub, and talked to multiple people about "latest rumors", until the bartender eventually gave me a second journal update: "I was told that...". This is not enough though.

2. Now you need to ask people "little secret", and they will tell you Larrius is looking for you. This is the final entry you need to talk to Larrius.

I loaded an earlier savegame, and this confirmed that it doesn't matter who you talk to in the South Wall Cornerclub (our outside?), you just need to talk about the topics multiple times to people that like you. In my case most had 82 disposition due to my Thieves Guild questing. Also, I killed one of the targetted people beforehand, but I don't think this matters. This was for another quest (murder of Hlaalo).
