The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Daggerfall - Morrowind Comparison
Between the release of Daggerfall and Morrowind (1996-2002ish) The series made many improvements to the series. I will be doing a Daggerfall - Morrowind comparison with an attempt at being as fair as possible to both games:

DAGGERFALL:
  1. Like Arena, Daggerfall used 2D Sprites, with some 3D-looking sprites to make everything more realistic.
  2. Daggerfall used, again like Arena, the skills, attributes, and use-skills-to-level-up progression system
  3. Daggerfall allowed you to remap the controls, a huge improvement from Arena, but also allowed you to choose between view-based combat, and cursor-based combat.
  4. Daggerfall let you explore the provinces of High Rock and Hammerfell.
  5. It allowed for multiple endings, increase replayabilty.
  6. To a certain extent, some features were generated randomly.
  7. You could join a large array of Guilds
  8. Language Skills, such as Giantish, Impish, and Orcish
  9. Timed quests
  10. Fast travel between counties
  11. Ability to buy a horse/house/wagon

MORROWIND:
  1. Use of 3D characters, along with limited voice acting
  2. less skills then daggerfall, but still a large amount
  3. removal of cursor-based combat of Arena and Daggerfall
  4. Single province - The Island of VVardenfell in Morrowind
  5. most features in the game not generated randomly
  6. Different guilds, but still a very large amount
  7. removal of langauage skills
  8. Added star signs
  9. Added skill books
  10. Non-timed quests
  11. Better world map
  12. No fast travel
  13. Ability to build a stronghold
  14. DLC's!!!!

This is not a comparison about "which is better". That, I leave up to you to decide. Both have great atomspheres in their own way. So, you decide.......

"To a certain extent, some features were generated randomly."

If memory serves, about 95% of the entire game world safe for some key buildings and dungeons were randomly generated.
