The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Crashes Quickly
No mods and the specs are on my profile.

All I did was download and try playing and now it crashes before I can even leave the character creation area.

I'm sorry if I'm double posting this I may have posted it already a day or two ago but I tried from my phone and I'm not sure if it actually posted and I had no replies anyways.

I literally have a brand new vanilla download that crashes after a quick character creation. Any ideas?

I dont know if it is going to help you.

download this "mod"

Name: Morrowind code Patch ( you can download the nexusmodmanager and add the mod with the mod manager or unzip the folder. Last stop copy the content from the uniped folder to into Morrowind installation folder and run the MorrowindCodePatch.exe)

http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/19510/?

Answer these Questions if the above step did not help you:

1. What System are you using?
2. did you install the game to another location then steams usual one?

also try to google for the problem.
posting your specs here would be better.

I use wind 10 with average system specs (for our present) game runs fine. Even with mods installed it crashes rarely

Same thing happening to me. Really frustrating. I have another copy of the game backed up from when I was running Morrowind Overhaul and that works fine, but the vanilla game crashes exiting the ship every time. Makes no sense. 4gb patch / code patch / exe optimizer did not fix. I'm too old and blind for the tiny fonts using the mods, guess I'll try to go back and set a lower resolution, but would rather just play vanilla.

If you modded the game at all in the past, it helps to uninstall the game and delete the entire Morrowind folder that is left over before re-installing to make sure no remnant mods are left over, including the INI which may contain changes from mods.

This is definitely a bug, it's hitting me as well, you open the hatch for Seyda Neen and it immediately crashes. Simple solution if you're not looking for a heavily modified game, download MGE XE from nexus mods, extract it to your Morrowind directory, and run MGEXEgui as admin. To test all I did was set my game to 1920x1080, set AA To 2x, and enabled shaders, closed and tried game, boom can get off the ship. So I still have a full vanilla experience and the game is working *so far*... Going to try to lower the res now for bigger fonts or i'll just end up using a mod for bigger text. I may still end up adding the exe patch, 4gb patch, and code patch if I experience more crashes, may be worth looking into. Must be something with the stock game shaders crashing on outdoor environments.

Hope this solves the problem for OP.

Just wanted to say I appreciate the answers but I haven't gotten to try anything due to a busy schedule. But thanks to all of you!
