Why is the community so awful?

I'm honestly puzzled, this is a great game and in-game nobody seems to stand out as idiots, but in the general chat it's nothing but underage Redditors spouting memes and acting like military experts. I'm not talking just a few, every time I'm in the global chat it feels like I'm playing League of Legends, I don't understand how a small RTT/RTS gets such a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ community as they normally have some of the nicest people.

Because the "good" players switch off the general chat to avoid talking with those idiots. Either that or they just ignore the chat spam. If you ant to discuss tactics in this game or serious topics about this game, I would recommend going to this games forum as chat is pretty annoying.

Eugen uses passive moderation. You have to go on the official forum and procedurally complain to get them temp banned. Most people just turn chat off.

Yep, pretty much like H.S. There are cliques and if you aren't sucking up to the Euros, you are discouraged from showing any type of NATO fanboyism. Some of the forum mods have some pretty well known 'nationalistic' biases as well.
