Wargame: AirLand Battle
How about adding a Range FInder?
FIrst, if this has been added in Red Dragon, my appologies. But I've always wondered why units will only show distance to targets when a you have a valid weapon active and on a valid target? Range finding is a basic concept on the battlefield that's been around forever. When in a battlefield any unit whether it be infantry, tank, or helicopter needs to know what distance their given weapons cover, even if you are not actually sighting a target. This is not a sophisticated process, modern technology only made it easier and faster, but even old optics in gun sights and binoculars had lines that you can mulitply by a given amount if you know roughly what the size of the object you are sighting is. For example if the lines represent 100 times, then if what you are sighting is a man, and he reaches from line to line in the sight, you know that he is about 600 feet away, because 6 feet times 100 is 600 feet.

My point is, knowing where a given unit's weapons reach is important in deciding how to place them strategically and is something that is given heavy consideration in an actual battlefield, so wouldn't it be more fun to have this in an RTS like Wargames?

I think I know what you're talking about. I wish I had some sort of arc that would show the firing range of my unit.
