Notes crossed out or with "X" on them
I'm sure this is simple and probably somewhere online, but what's with the notes with the Xs on them? Do I treat them differently or just play them like the normal ones?

They are palm mutes. See lessons

It can also mean muting on the fretting hand (i.e. lifting your fretting fingers slightly), if it's a small X in the middle of the note or chord. A large X covering the whole note or chord means a palm mute.

I'm a fingerstyle bassist so palm mutes just don't work for me, so that's what I do.

Palm mute and frethand mutes have differing color for the X that comes through the note pay attention to the notation. White X = frethand mute ... grayish dark X = Palm mute.
