Is the Rocksmith Cable Required?
So I've read a few discussions about the Rocksmith cable, saying its needed to play. However, none of these people were using the equipment I am, so I wanted to ask again, is it the only way to play? I have the Alesis Multimix 4 USB mixing board, and I can use that to play and record my guitar through FL Studio and REAPER, which I do. I would have expected to then be able to use this through Rocksmith too, but it doesn't seem to be working, do I need to use a specific driver, or is the cable the only way?

The Realtone cable is required, it doesn't matter what other equipment you have on your PC at all

That's annoying, I have semi-professional recording equipment and software, which I regularly use, you'd think they'd be able to support that.

Yep, like the others said. It only recognizes the official RealTone USB cable.

Dammit, I'm literally gonna have to wait a day to play this game, and also pay £20 for something worse than what I already own.

It's more for a support point of view rather than anything else, by only allowing one method of connection, there is alot less that can go wrong.

I get what you mean, but honestly I still would like it to be supported, just feels like it's punishing people for having equipment already.

There is 'unofficial' cable fix that enables game without it. I do not reccomend it tho.

With ASIO in the game I would call it either lazy developers, or just hardware DRM

ASIO is in the game? Well that's just stupid then, there's literally nothing stopping them.
Unless, its for DRM reasons.

As far as I can remember the Real Tone Cable works on some kind of restricted ASIO mode, only recognizing the Cable as a valid interface. Even if it was just WDM, every interface comes with valid WDM drivers, so that is not a valid reason either; obviously the cable is there just for DRM reasons.

ASIO is not in the game.

The cable is not for DRM reasons its for support reasons. It is easier for a small team of developers to provide support for 3 platforms when the interface is the same.
Yes of course, but we're not saying they shouldn't have the cable on PC. What we're saying is the small number that have the equipment to use their guitar through their PC already should be able to use that. That doesn't compromise support at all, all it does is compromise DRM, which Ubisoft are infamous for.

This has been discussed at length and you haven't said anything new.
They are not going to support any other interfaces. This is a small team (30 devs) providing support for 3 platforms (soon to be 4) and the only way to ensure the user experience is to control the interface.
The devs have talked about this at length, and they just do not have the resources to support litteraly hundreds of thousands of pc configurations.
The cable is to make sure that all user recieve the same input experience. Thats it.

You realise every single possible configuration to have your guitar play through your PC requires the same single driver right? Literally all the software needs to do is support ASIO, and all configurations are covered without exception.
Also, at this point nobody is expecting them to support it. We are just saying its a good idea, and if they are gonna make a new one, which they inevitably will, its a feature they should include, it isn't difficult.

The game does not support ASIO. Period. Developers have shot down using ASIO, they are not going to use it. Shoulda/coulda/woulda if you have input for the development team you should take your comments to them directly. There are plenty of ways to reach out to them. Facebook, Twitter, and the Ubisoft Forums

I know, we established this, I never once said it did, and I edited my last post, so there's no need for me to make a reply to this.
