Updating Bumblebee driver after upgrading Ubuntu
So I have upgraded my machine to 13.10 and I am wondering what would be the recommended course of action to upgrade my drivers. I installed Bumblebee using this guide here back when I was using 13.04: http://web.archive.org/web/20130901133352/https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bumblebee (I used Wayback machine as I see they have it modified for 13.10 now)

So now that I am on 13.10, I noticed it disabled the repositories for Bumblebee. Enabling them and doing a sudo apt-get update gave an error referring to unmet dependencies:
... The error message was: 'Unknown Error: '<class 'KeyError'>'("The cache has no package named 'primus-libs-ia32'")'. ...

So right now I am wondering what might be the best thing to do in this case. Any suggestions?

Bumblebee is now included in the official Ubuntu repositories; it's best if you remove the PPAs since they are most likely replaced with the version in the official repositories. Also, Nvidia-319 is also in the official repositories which means you can install those drivers if you want.
Alright, I removed it using the instructions found on the Ubuntu wiki page for Bumblebee. However I am running into a big problem. I did a reboot right after and I got a blank black screen after I logged in. Cursor is still there and I can still access the shell you get when you press ctrl-alt F#.

No no no, don't uninstall it. I said remove the PPA; it's inactive!
For the sake of details, I will provide the exact commands I used to get me in this bad situation:
sudo ppa-purge ppa:bumblebee/stable
sudo apt-get purge bumblebee
sudo apt-get --purge autoremove

Anyways, I apologize for this as I misread your post. With that said, what should I do to restore it? I was considering on trying to install it again using the same process I did initially but I am having my doubts of it being that simple.

For what it's worth, you don't need to add a repository to install Bumblebee; just install synaptic package manager and search for 'bumblebee'. Make sure you install primus too!
Is there a way to operate it from the command line? Logging in brings me to a black screen (I'm using another machine to post on Steam), so I don't have access to anything extremely graphical other than the login screen.

I'm very interested here; how are you getting a black screen? Shouldn't your machine fall-back to the Intel card?
That was what I was hoping to see too, but it didn't seem to fall that way. It has got me really puzzled. For what it might be worth, I'm on an Intel HD Graphics 4000 + GeForce GT 640M setup.

You might've removed mesa or something. In order to install bumblebee simply type the following commands you did as before, except don't add the PPA.

Good, make sure you install mesa as well, along with mesa-utils. Good luck!
