Backing Up Games Error

Hello,
Over the last month whenever I try to back up any game using the steam backup utility (I'm aware of the workaround, I just like consistency) the progress bar will finish but then it hangs up and just sits there with a full bar. I've attempted to restore one of the games when it does that, and it never completes the restore either. I'm just curious if this is a known issue with a fix, or if I have to start using the workaround of copying the games from steamapps to my portable drive.

I should probably specify, Windows 7 64bit Enterprise, never had an issue before a month ago with the backup utility since the update last year. HDD not even close to full

Yo braw this is steam for Linux. if you want to back up games u can just copy and paste your steamapps folder around or right click game and backup game files then save that somewhere

I've tried to use the backup feature just recently (before my migration from Debian Wheezy to Jessie). It failed for some reason with Waveform...

If a game has its own updater (Blackight Retribution, Planetside 2,...) you cannot use Steams build-in backup feature.
