Steam for Linux

Sound issue on openSUSE and ARCH ? solved thank you Valve
Before last update, to have sound in TF2 HL and CS, I had to start steam with SDL_AUDIODRIVER=pulseaudio steam.

Since last update, I can start steam just with the shortcut.

I am on openSUSE, but I remember people with Arch and pulse audio, having the same problem.

Can any Arch user confirm this ?

As far as I understand things, SDL_AUDIODRIVER=alsa steam, for people without pulse audio, should not be necesarry anymore either.

This isn't Arch specific. This is the case if you install vanilla KDE on Arch which doesn't use pulseaudio by default.
Ye, the issue was found on about all true kde distro's.
I'll install openSUSE just to see if this is true =)
good news. worked from the from the desktop shortcut with sound just fine in 64bit openSUSE 12.2 KDE 4.8.5. thanks for pointing this out.
Have to buy more games now to show my appreciation...
Sound is fixed, but 10fps is still here, no more than that.

Using 310.32 from the repos

Do you get an Nvidia logo before you log in?
Then your Nvidia drivers aren't functional, I think you should reinstall them.

I don't think so, I never got that nvidia screen and it worked fine until 2 months ago if I recall, I could install any driver I wanted. Now with anydriver means crash. I'll download from the website and test that, just to make sure.

Its not a bug. Feature! Can be disabled in xorg.conf.
The sound is fixed but fps is 10 with no matter drivers.

openSUSE is still not mature enough for me to play with

EDIT: Sound is fixed on TF2, but on CSS it doesn't have any audio.
