Steam for Linux

Steam creates files not managed by a package manager
I've moved a steam folder to the partition that's not mounted at startup and Steam started whining that it's not installed. In the end I've found the reason: /var/lib/update-notifier/user.d/steam-install-notify
But why isn't it in the steam package? That would've helped me a lot.

Also, I think it should try to install only once: there may be users who don't want to install it.

I installed my steam through the Windows installer using Wine and it works perfectly fine. When I opened the .deb for Steam, it came with no description or anything, and crashed every time I opened it.

I believe Steam moves things around, which I have found random files concerning steam in random places.
