I am going to make sure everything gets updated :)
Thanks. I'm updating it right now, so keep your fingers crossed xD
W-T-F?
Edit: Is the Windows figure counting swap or not counting it?
Edit2: RAM is not on the hard drive.
EDIT: I am on 12.04 right now, starting up TF2.
Good luck
EDIT: AND.... No Tux. ... This problem stills persists.
EDIT2: I am going to install Steam via Linux installer, instead of the windows installer I used to install my linux back on 11.04.
1) I installed Steam on Ubuntu 11.04 using the Linux Installer. Got a error.
2) Installed Steam on Ubuntu 11.04 using the Windows installer.
3) Downloaded Team Fortress 2.
4) Ran Team Fortress 2, screen was black.
5) Fixed that problem, ran TF2 but found no Tux.
6) Updated to 12.04.
7) Ran Steam with the Windows version, and ran TF2. NO TUX!
8) Installed Steam using Linux installer. ERROR. Had to update Drivers.
9) Updated Drivers, rebooted.
10) Steam ran, not enough disk space to install TF2. I then went through and deleted a bunch of crap.
11) RE-INSTALLED TF2 SINCE THE WINDOWS VERSION WAS IN ITS OWN FOLDER.
"Estimated Download Time: 6 days 9 hours 31 minutes" ...
12) ??? Currently re-installing.
What do I get for spending hours of my time on this? A Tux. Where the people without them are jelly and think they will be worth absolutely nothing.
Steam under wine is one of the crankiest things that I can recall ever using. With most games outright not working, or only working if I did some trickery beyond using wine.
That, incidentally is also why no Tux. Windows client under wine != Linux.
1, probably was due to it not having glibc 2.15.
2, see above on wine != Linux
3, if you were using the Windows client, you downloaded the Windows version, not the Linux version
4, assuming it was under wine, you're still on the Windows version.
5, see 3 and 4.
7, again, not the Linux client or version.
8, The client was built against bleeding edge Ubuntu, odds are that most would have to update drivers.
11, the Windows version of TF2 wasn't ever relevant in the first place.
Yeah, I really do not use Linux much at all, so I was not prepared to do hands on updating, downloading, and upgrading all at once. I agree with your opinion on Wine.
Installed Ubuntu 12.04 and updated it and after a lot of hassle got the correct graphic driver installed.
Then I downloaded the .deb-file for Steam from the wiki.
Then I logged in, and installed Team Fortress 2 and it's Linux due to the lack of games under library there.
When TF2 finished downloading, I launched it and played for around 30-60 minutes.
So far, no tux. Do I have to wait for it to register or what?
