Half-Life (beta) - gamepad support?

I don't currently own the original half-life or I wouldn't be asking, but does this support gamepad (natively) now? I will buy it right now to use with BPM if so. Thanks to anybody willing to answer this.

Gamepad support in the game is limited, using a mouse and keyboard is recommended.

Thanks alfred! Any chance you could explain a bit what you mean by limited gamepad support? I have no interest in using a mouse and keyboard in my living room.

ok, i guess you can but it's not what it was designed for, you really can't be efficient with a gamepad in an fps......

Just like Halo, or COD on a PS3 =)

Nothin wrong about it, some people like best then mouse+keyboard.

For me personally, a keyboard and mouse is for working - when I want to relax, I kick back in my living room and use a gamepad.

In the past, that has been a NES/Genesis/Saturn/Dreamcast/PS2/Xbox/PS3/360. I'm not much of a traditional PC gamer (because of the aforementioned personal affiliation with a mouse/keyboard to working) - but I'm excited about using a PC as a 'console' (with BPM) in my living room.

I've never played the original half-life and was hoping to finally get to experience it in my preferred relaxation environment. It looks like Black Mesa has 360 gamepad support so maybe I should be looking there instead - unfortunately it's not available for linux though.

Whats the progress on this exactly? I can't get my joystick to work with half-life, after setting it up in userconfig.cfg. I'm using a dualshock3 that is natively supported in linux.

I have all joystick options turned on in the menus. I'm not sure what the problem is.
