Steam for Linux

Saints Row The 4th/Metro: Last Light
Sadly THQ is no more, and right after they proposed Linux support for their games. However I noticed that Saints Row and the Metro series were picked up by Koch Media who owns the Sacred and X1-3 franchises which have Linux ports. Might be grasping at straws but I wonder if there may be a chance we will see these games ported at some point.

Honestly, the only reason I have Windows installed at all is to play SR3, and a few other games which aren't supported on Linux. Linux support for SR4 would be amazing! Too bad there's no "moonlight" equivalent of DirectX.

Eh, death to the publishers. Looking at the list https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_THQ_games the only 2 games that I see that where worth playing where S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow Of Chernobyl and Ghost In The Shell. They where far too heavy in crappy movie tie in games.

Great news.

i just saw this on phoronix... huh ... not sure...
I just saw this on my Phoronix RSS feed, definitely caught me by surprise. I liked the first game and was looking forward this instalment but didn't want to keep booting into Windows, so I didn't buy it. The Phoronix article title was misleading though, saying it's out now but it doesn't appear to be.

I'll definitely buy it as soon as it's released :)

People still read Phoronix? Are they still the Faux "news" of open source?

Well, Phoronix is somewhat based on rumors and such, but... they were right on a little thing called Steam on Linux so that won some credability from me

I remember all of that, it was all sensationalist crap that Steam was coming to Linux next week for around 3 years straight, even at a time when Valve employees where denying it outright in interviews. That Michael Larabel was right eventually doesn't mean anything since he quite literally is Linux's "boy who cried wolf".

Lets not even start on the lame excuse for "reviews" and "benchmarks" he does. Or the attacking of hardware manufacturers over something said by call center script readers out of context and then whines about no hardware manufacturers want to send him anything to review.

Dude gives Linux a bad look. We need a real Linux review site.

This is first source of this news (article was up before Phoronix put it's slippery hands on it):

http://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/metro-last-light-looks-like-it-may-be-heading-to-linux-updated.2265

Also there is an update with response from devs, so go check it out.

GOL is also worth considering as your Linux news site since they often get in touch with devs for some cool interviews.

----------------------

I'm not affiiated with GOL in any way, so this is not sponsored ad :P, I just got very negative feelings for Phoronix and Larabel. His ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ news, literally wannabe style of writting and race for more ad revenue by linking to his own articles instead of sources.

And GOL is cool :)
