Steam for Linux

Steam permission problem after configuring for second user
( Edited after looking more closely at the problem... )

I installed Steam just find in my Ubunt box's main account.

Then I set it up for another user on the machine.

After that, I could not run steam in the first account. I got this:

Installing breakpad exception handler for appid(steam)/version(1355957371_client) Installing breakpad exception handler for appid(steam)/version(1355957371_client) threadtools.cpp (1439) : Assertion Failed: Permission denied Assert( Assertion Failed: Permission denied ):/home/buildbot/buildslave_steam/steam_rel_client_ubuntu12_linux/build/src/tier0/threadtools.cpp:1439 Installing breakpad exception handler for appid(steam)/version(1355957371_client) Uploading dump (in-process) [proxy ''] /tmp/dumps/assert_20121223213620_1.dmp success = yes response: CrashID=bp-c954efc8-7588-4bc6-8a1f-71a852121223 threadtools.cpp (1089) : Assertion Failed: semaphore creation failed Operation now in progress unlinked 0 orphaned pipes removing stale semaphore last operated on by process 8814 with name 0eBlobRegistryMutex_E92CD6EAB56AC997E6E90B8D87600EDD removing stale semaphore last operated on by process 8814 with name 0eBlobRegistrySignal_E92CD6EAB56AC997E6E90B8D87600EDD removing stale semaphore last operated on by process 5639 with name 0emSteamEngineInstance removing stale semaphore last operated on by process 5198 with name 0eSteamEngineLock threadtools.cpp (1439) : Assertion Failed: Permission denied Shutting down. . . unlinked 2 orphaned pipes CAsyncIOManager: 0 threads terminating. 0 reads, 0 writes, 0 deferrals. After some digging, I noticed that some files in /tmp were owned by the second user account. Stuff like /tmp/gameoverlayrenderer.log. I delete these, but am still unable to start steam with the first acount.

Please help!

Thanks for the quick reply, Katsura!

I think it has something to do with trying to set up steam to run in two separate user accounts on my machine. I edited my original message to specify this.
So I went into the second user account, ran steam, and quit.

Then I tried again from the main account, and steam decided to work. W.T.F.!!

Anyway, I'm through mucking about with the second user account for now. It looks like Steam is not ready for a multi-user OS...
