Steam for Linux

Humble Bundle Games?
I noticed on the page:
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8495-OKZC-0159
that it lists the Linux games available. Some of the Humble Bundle games are there, but many are not, even though they are released for (and work on) Linux and are available as Windows downloads via Steam. Is this expected? Will the other Humble Bundle games be added?

It completely depends on the developers and/or publishers. Most of them, I guess, will do that in time.
Yeah for instance I just notice Splice appear in my games list. Sure it has no data to download yet, but it means its coming I guess. We just have to wait.

I hope to see the Torchlight Linux port on Steam soon. And while they're at it they could make TL2 available for Linux too. It's still is the same engine I guess so might not be that hard.

QFT. Was so happy to see torchlight 1 for linux in the humble bundle. I already owned a copy of torchlight through steam, plus the extra I got for preordering TL2. Hope they make their way to linux native steam.

As I understand the question was about the games that _already_ work on Linux, but not through Steam yet. I'm also interrested in this as I have some Humble Bundle games that work on Linux, but are not in my Library “Linux Games” list.

The devs or publishers of said game has to update the games profile by adding the Linux version, I don't feel this is Valves responsibility.

Just because Valve now has a Linux version of Steam does not mean that they automagically know about all games that already has an existing Linux version. Some may also need to adjust/update the game by adding in the steam integration, to my understanding it's not so simple as just dropping the library file in the games directory.

I actually emailed the Humble Bundle team about this, this is my conversation.

Initial Message:
Hello there! Will all the Linux games from HiBs be added to Steam for us to directly download?

Much thanks for your time. :)

Response:
Hello CJ,

Steam is working on supporting Linux so that is something that Steam will eventually offer yes.

I know it's just a conjecture, but the most likely reason for the delay is that the bindings with Steam (for example, support for chat and achievements) are yet to be programmed into the (GNU+)Linux ports.
