Linux "Cruise control" bug is driving me nuts
Hi,
I didn't know how to call the issue, so I just used the phrase some guy on stack exchange used, "Linux cruise control bug", because that's kinda what's happening.
Everytime I play DoD:S (or any other Steam game for that matter) and move around the world, my W key gets stuck. Not indefinitely, but about a second or so, causing me to continue walking even if I really don't want to. Like when I snipe. Or when there's a ledge and I'd prefer not to fall down from it and die.
Now I can control the issue somewhat by always pressing S as soon as I want to stop walking, but this can't be the only solution. Does anybody know how to solve this? Or maybe know how this problem is actually called so I can google around a little?
All I know so far is that X seems to lose focus when I walk and do something else, like moving the mouse around or clicking enemies to death, causing it to miss the "key released" signal. But that knowledge doesn't get me anywhere.

System's a Fedora 18 x86_64 box running XFCE, fglrx and the keyboard is built into my laptop.

Try this?
sudo rm /dev/input/js0
Or just disconnect any gamepad.
