very happy ( besides me initial having no sound, posible solution )
After instaling openSUSE 13.1 no sound anymore in any game from Valve.
After a few failed attempts deleted all steam folders, to start all over.

The reason why I am so happy ?

On first sign in after instalI, I got the survey :)

About 2 months agoo I was very anoyed, booted windows after gaming for weeks on Linux, and bam survey :(

Sound might be alsa/pulse issue, you could try to run steam from terminal and see what it says about alsa and pulse.

here's how you fix sound in openSUSE on AMD opensource drivers

Using Catalyst beta.
Adding me to the audio group did not work
Tried allot of other things too.
Disabeling pulse at least gave me sound, but...

I think I found an solution.

This should be interesting for others too, not just openSUSE users, but at least Arch too.

I have run into sound problems on OpenSuse 13.1 (not yet released). In my case the '/etc/machine-id' and the '/var/lib/dbus/machine-id' files both existed but contained different values.

I removed the dbus one and made a symlink to the other by running:
'sudo ln -s /etc/machine-id /var/lib/dbus/machine-id'

This fixed the issue for me.

Filed a bug report, but this seems to affect some Arch users too. ( two different machine id's )
