No, there really isn't a way - you can however set your townies to always butcher 5 (if you have one of each farm) and that will keep the spawn down so that they are slaughtering the livestock. Do you have a kitchen to cook the meat?

If you have too many animals built up in your walled in farm just slaughter ten at a time to get down to a manageable number. Or, alternatively, the game tries to self correct if you're using meat / animal based foods by still allowing townies to cook and eat those products and your surplus animals that aren't getting fed will die off creating bones.

Each animal should only need feeding once every 12 hours. If you have a lot of animals, then try slaughtering more of them. If you always have a surplus of animals sitting around, then you may need to reduce the number of farms.

Agreed - the best way to pretty much keep maintenance down and food up is to maintain a 1:1 production (1 townie, one unit of baked/cooked food). Animals mean more mouths to feed, so having only one each reduces that amount. Otherwise you might as well treat them as a townie as well.

However, the in-game time to real time ratio of this game sucks...
