Personnal rooms

I just wanted to know if we could build personnal rooms over personnal rooms, like appartments? I tried but it didnt work... I have like ten villagers right now and i'd like to save as much space i can for now >< Also, do you have any advices on how to build two floors buildings?

You have to build a layer of walls to serve as a floor. Then you can build up and make apartments.
