No Desktop Icon?

I don't have one, and I can't find one... This is making me mad. Any fixes?

Normally you can just look up (Insert Game Here) Steam Icon and you can find an image you'll be able to use as your icon, but that's not the case with Thomas Was Alone

Normally icons for your different steam games get placed into \Steam\Steam\Games\ folder, however there does not appear to be a Thomas Was Alone icon in that folder. If you point your shortcut to Steam\Steamapps\Common\Thomaswasalone\ThomasWasAlone.exe you should be able to use that as an icon instead.

I took a screenshot, cropped it, and uploaded it to my Google Drive.

1. Download it from here[docs.google.com]
2. Put it in \Steam\steam\games (not necessary, but that's where the other games' icons are)
3. Right-click on the shortcut and select 'Properties'
4. In the 'Web Document' tab, click 'Change Icon...'
5. Click 'Browse', navigate to the icon, select it, click 'Open', 'Okay', 'Okay'
6. Profit! (or at least go enjoy the game)

u dont have 2 download nothing just go 2 your steam folder then steam apps and common go to the game and copy the game shortcut

If you point your shortcut to the app itself, it changes how you're running it. I don't know of any consequences to that, but I prefer running it directly through Steam as intended.

In windows the path to the launched application can differ from the path to the icon. In this case all that is necessary to fix the above problem is to change the icon path to actual game.exe. No need to change the launch path unless you wish to run the game in a DRM free environment without the requirement/benefit of having steam running to track achievements.

This guy knows what's up. But actually, you don't even have to do that. If you right click the game's shortcut, choose Properties, go to the Web Document tab, and click Change Icon, and then Browse to the game's folder that Mango Dropkick mentioned above, you'll see that the game's exe file has an icon. Select that, and it will use the icon for your desktop shortcut. This will work for any game.

Btw, I know this is an old thread, but I think this could be helpful for people like me who were searching for a solution to the issue, since this thread is one of the first results when searching for "steam games don't have icons", or similar.
