Game crashing
I'm really enjoying the title and the game was running just fine, but now that I'm almost done with it the game keeps crashing.

It usually crashes after a minute or two with an "thomaswasalone.exe encountered an unexpected error" message, which is probably not helpful information to you, but I can't really say much more. I tried running in compatibility mode and whitelisting/turning off avast. Strange in particular is that I was able to play several hours without any issues whatsoever, so I'm having a hard time tracing the error. Not running any new software in the background either.

have you tried verifying cache of the game in steam?

Yeah, sorry for not mentioning that. I always try that first if any game has issues.

Was finally able to beat the game playing in windowed mode with 800x600 resolution and simple graphics. So in case anyone else has trouble crashing I suspect that high graphics settings/ full screen may also cause problems.

unsure. I didn't have any issues but I'm glad you were able to complete it!
