The Game is Broken
So I purchased this game some time back during the Capcom sale. At first, the only issue I had was that it stuttered when enemies were introduced, but that was something I could deal with. Now, whenever I launch the game, several things happen.

1. I cannot scroll through options, either with the keyboard or with the controller
2. Dante is permanently running in a circle and I have no idea how to fix it, I have done everything from reinstalling the game, to disconnecting the mouse AND the keyboard. My gamepad (A Logitec gamepad, if you're wondering) works fine with every other game I own, including the ones not on Steam. Apart from eternally drilling a hole into the ground, everything else works, attacks, shooting, dodging and jumping.

I really don't want to have this game sit or turn it in because I want to play it for myself, but it has been rendered nigh unplayable, unless I want to watch Dante run in circles for hours. And for the record, the thing worked perfectly when I loaded it up the first time.

you tried disconnecting the keyboard and mouse but did you try disconnecting the gamepad?

Strange. This is one of the rare game from Capcom, AFAIK, which did not present this kind of issues since your case. Do you have a specific gamepad software on your machine ?

Software? I don't think so. I'm not aware of any gamepad software. I just plugged it in and it worked.

There are software like X360ce which let you emulate a Xinput gamepad ( AKA a 360 or Xbox one one ) or Xpadder for example.

What is the model of your Logitech Gamepad ?

It's a Logitec F310. I've never had to download programs, it always worked, I don't know why it decided to do this NOW.

There is literally nothing. I unplugged the gamepad MID GAME and it still wouldn't fix it. And as I keep saying, it worked fine before this, there is no external software I installed, and nothing. Else. Works.

I would like to add an update: I discovered what the problem was. I have a PS2 controller plugged into my desktop and when I unplugged it, everything was hunky dory. I'm just going to revel in my idiocy for a bit. Thanks for the help and suggestions guys!~

yeah just browsed this and was pretty obvious the issue was software
those controller remapping programs can really mess your games up check out giant bomb playing far cry 4 with a ps4 controller on pc. whole game completely broke nothing worked

I had the same issue, my issue was the spinning camera, it was caused by having my extreme 3d joy stick plugged in, unplugged it and everything works fine

This sounds more like a hardware issue. Other than that, the only stuttering I get is whenever the game autosaves (installing this on an SSD didn't help much either).
