A HALF-LIFE player's opinion of Halo.

What would our species, being Half-life players, think about a game such as Halo, which every aspect of the game is the opposite of Half-Life.

So, like, do you think it's good? Bad? What?

I have thought Halo was overrated trash since i played the first one after hearing so much praise for it. It was one of the most bland generic shooters i played.

Agreed, the game relies on cutscenes to immerge you into the game, rather than using the gameplay, which like you said, is generic.

Halo CE was ok, not great, but not a bad game. I like Oni better, and still play it sometimes. I agree with Monster though that cutscenes are a lame approach. They almost made sense when cinematics had much better visual quality than the game enginers did. But they serve no purpose now - other than to break up the flow and immersion of the game.

I'm not complaining about the cutscenes themselves, but rather that the cutscenes are the only tool to immerge the player.

(ehem, it's Bungie's work on all the Halo games before number 4 that I loved, since Halo 4's done by 343 Industries, it wasn't as cool as I thought, as for the next Halo games, I'd call them trash... they don't even look like Halo)

Dude, I love Halo, but HL2's WAY better, the gameplay of Halo is totally opposite to HL2, in HL2, we don't have many cutscenes whatsoever, in Halo, it's covered in cutscenes, down to every last chapter... But actually, in HL2, the cutscenes ARE actually just those little bits on which you cannot move, but they make you feel like your actually in the game, because you can still look around when they go off... HL2's way better than Halo, But I would'nt call Halo 1, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo: Reach trash, they are totally cool... But Half life beats them all the way... That's my opinion...

i must agree. and halo 3 ODST was pretty kool too. in a way ODST had a small trace of HL2 story telling.

if they dont stop hatin then will sick an army of on them under the orders of . any survivers will be covered with and end up in a snipers . if any survivers remain after that then they will be to death

When people talk about the Halo FRANCHISE, do you immediately assume we're talking about Halo 1? Nope, Just Halo 2 and onwards.

I said I love the Halo games... does that count as "not hating?" They're awesome, until Halo 4, and leave it at that... Though Halo 4 was still great, multiplayer in there beats Reach's multiplayer, and the Mantises? OP! :P (Half Life still beats Halo, no matter what people say...)

I can't wait for the day I'd ever get the Orange Box on the Xbox 360, then I can have the Xbox version of gameplay, and compare it to the PC, and see which is more easier, PC still beats Xbox, way faster, and cheats...
