Half-Life 2 crashes after 3-5 minutes of gameplay. Sound Loop and Black Screen.

I honestly hate my comp right about now.
So I'm playing half-life 2, and after 3-5 minutes of playing, sure enough, the sound loop and black screen. I half to use task manager to close hl2.exe

I have an Nvidia Geforce GTX 460'
Win7 Professional
AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1090T Processor (6 CPUs), ~3.3 GHz
8GB Ram
and DirectX 11.
Yes I have upgraded my video drivers constantly.
Yes I shut off AVG because its known to crash the game.
But the thing is, just yesterday I played for almost 4 hours straight without a single problem. Today when i get on, it crashed in less than 5 minutes.
Any help?

Hi, I have the same problem before, but my HL doens't even show the graphics... Stay only on Sound loop, here's the deal:

I read before that the VERTICAL SYNC can be a problem on this games, so try desactivating the VS and try again.

My case was almost the same, but my Laptop has the GT 555 and HD INTEL 4000, when i disable the VS on GT 555 doens't work... But later i've tried disabling on HD and all my games that have Black Screen Work again!!!

So pls, try that!!

Yep same here - GTX660 , i7 3.4ghz, 8gb RAM

Will randomly crash with sound looping, have to ctrl alt delete.
I've tried loads of things, it's annoying.
