Somethings wrong with half-life

I recently got the game half-life and when i played it the houses in some areas were checkerd black and pink and so as the proffesor guy

That is some serious texture errors. First I would make sure your DirectX and video drivers are up to date. If that does not fix the problem then I would suggest deleting the local content and related GCF files and then redownloading it all over again.
