but to actually anwser your question is that when half-life 2 came out it blew every thing esle out of the water. in graphics wise, in gameplay wise, in pretty much every thing that came out before it, and half-life 1 had an even bigger impact, it redefined all of gaming and revolutionized every thing. back then it wasn't call of duty vs battlefield it was half-life vs halo. we are hoping half-life 3 will do the same thing as its precedors. plus half-life 2: episode 2 ( the final installment of half-life 2 ) left on a huge cliff hanger and it came out almost seven years ago, so you cant really blame the people who love it for getting impatient. ( sorry for all of the bad grammar )
It's mainly the story as it's a pretty deep one.
Even beyond what is told to you through dialogue.
And the fact Episode 2 was a cliffhanger.
It's just natural that people want to know what happens.
