Error opening Half Life 2

Hello,

I bought HL2 yesterday on steam. I left all the night downloading (slow net here) and when I try to open I get the following error:

Error 0x8876086A: D3DERR_NOTAVAILABLE: This device does not support the queried technique.

I read the FAQ and it is related commonly to ATI graphic cards.

I am running steam on a windows 8.1 64 bits machine, updated, with nVidia GEForce GT 740M. It is a dell notebook.

Anybody has any advice about how to fix this?

Hola! Yo no encontré ninguna solucion. Pero yo creo que es possible jugar. Estoy leendo y contesto aqui cuando descobrir!

Hi, I just fixed the problem. You just need to download NVIDIA INSPECTOR, click on the engine besides the card specification and then you need to choose the half life 2 profile,
