In the level our benefactors
I cant get past the room with pods and the electrecute.
I tried climb into a pod but got killed.
Tried to jumb over but no go.
Any advice please.

One pod goes one way one pod goes the other way, one gets electrocuted the other doesn't, don't worry this got me the first time i played HL2 too, try tthe other pod.

Try a pod on the other side. They go in two directions, one gets you killed (this can be seen if you look where the pods go before stepping into them), the other lets you progress in the map.
