How to disable FPS counter.

Ever since the last Steam update, my HL2 and the epsiodes have had that little thing that lets you know about your frames per second and your ping in multiplayer games. I wouldn't know what to call it, and i'd like to get rid of it. The problem is that I can't find a console command anywhere to disable this thing. If anyone knows how to disable it, or a command to disable it, please let me know.

It didn't do anything. Although my poor description is probably the problem here. anything else I could try?

It only happens in Hl2 and episodes? I would check if i have the FPS counter enable in steam definitions (In a game tab), but if it only happens in specific games it should be a console command.

shift+tab to get steam overlay, then settings then ingame, then turn off fps ...if you mean the steam fps indicator

I'm probably misleading everyone here, so i'm just going to list off what I see on the counter and hope it gets recgonized. I've got FPS, In, Out, and PING. it's in the bottom right corner of my screen.
