Antichamber
Linux?
First, let me mention that this game is a masterpiece. I am amazed.

I am slowly quitting Windows, Antichamber and some other games are the only reasons I come back to Windows from time to time. At some point, I won't have Windows installed anymore and this will mean that I will have to forget Antichamber forever, this is very sad. A Linux port, even if it's in one year, would keep the game alive forever for us Linux users.

I wouldn't worry about sales, this game will probably sell for years, I've never seen something like it.

Edit: I don't have windows anymore, I might not play antichamber again :(
Edit2: It looks like its happening! Not yet on steam but you can get it from the humble bundle!

unreal engine doesn't support linux so it probably wont happen and there isn't really anything Alex(the dev) can do with out entirely changing the engine used and basically remaking the game from scratch.
Afaik all released major versions of the unreal engines are available for linux.

1: ut99
2: ut03/04
3: dungeon defenders
hm, might be the engine is supported then, its just alex says in the FAQ that linux doesn't support UDK
Lazy dev. Or there must be another issue.

Even works on Flash, which means that Google Chrome can run it.

Legend of Grimrock was ported to Linux and Red Orchestra 2(yes, two) is being ported. How can it be Antichamber is "unportable"? I dont spend money for windows games. Id love to play it ... :'(

UDK does not support Linux. Some things have been ported but it's not 100% reliable at all.
Looks like a game that would be appreciated by people with big giant brains. Port to Linux, please.
I could try it in Wine. There is no WineHQ entry, last I checked. I'll do that tomorrow.

There are a few WineHQ entries now. Sounds like it's working pretty well for people. http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=27571
Thanks for the info ^_^

Linux people usually don't care about wine.
We use it but if you want my money you should make it native.
IMO, while I would prefer a native version, I would settle for a Wine version that works easily.
One solution could be for devs to provide a Wine configuration as a compatibility layer between the core software (the game) and the operating system. I've encountered this being done once or twice with HIB games and other software, where a Wine 'loading' window would pop up momentarily when starting the game. The game would run without a hitch. I can't remember which game exactly :P

I have just discovered this game, and I'd gladly purchase it right now if it was available in Linux.
If there isn't going to be a native port, I would happily purchase a supported Wine version. Like, sell the game with a custom wine wrapper that's well tested and works on most systems, and guarantee refunds (within a time limit, even 24 hours would do) for people who can't get it working on their computer. Any chance of that happening? :)
