I remember playing the demo for this. What happened to the voice actor between demo and release? I liked the calm Knight voice better than Mr. Rage Balls yelling at me.

After the BD demo was released a portion of the Larian forum at the time complained about the voices (some quite loudly), particularly for the DK. Larian went to the added expense (and time) to redo the voices for the full game, at which point another portion of the forum (many of whom were silent before) complained that they were better in the demo.

The DK's voice gets better as the game progresses, though, and he also talks less.
A couple of the voices at the start of the game kind of stand out as being bad / out of place (like a friendly NPC in the prison level that asks you to kill Fergus), but that is also predominantly near the start of the game.

Thank the gods, the orginal voice actng was so badly done, it would drive anyone insane, seriously the worst in any game I have ever played.

I always thought they had mental patients dosed on LSD reading a script that was written in Angelic Script while being electro shock treated, it was that bad...

Lol i remember back in the day i felt the same way, i was so angry when they changed the voice, but what can you do, vocal people get their voice heard better :P

You can turn down just the actor voices in the "Audio" options, but you still hear the action sounds (including actor grunts and exclamations), environment, music, etc.. Best of all, the dialog doesn't seem as lame after that (even from the Imps). ;)
